Xen's Backstory

Xen was the third child of a ranger, his mother passed during his birth, leaving his father forever heart broken. Xen did train under his father for a time around his twentith year, serving with him scouting orc encampments, It was here the first whispers of the Erlking entered his ears, like a pesky mosiquito. Xen talked to his father, Valroon, about the incident, but Val dismissed it assuming it to be a little boy's fanicful imagination.

In his thritith year, Xen out hunting for the winter's larder, the voice came again directing him towards a clearing, unable to resist the calling this time, he headed for the clearing. In the clearing he spied a large beast of a humanoid, with antlers growing from his head, in a booming voice the thing Intoned

"Xen'a'drin. Thou finally listened."

Xen was naturally fearful, yet in the back of his head he could hear a thumping sound, not his heart, but the blood in his veins crashing through things were more signifcant near this man.

"W...Who...are you?" he asked, amazement and fear thick in his voice.


"I Am the Erlking, your mother was grand daughter, and of her three children you alone have answered my summons. You are my servant." The Erlking a fey spirit of noteable power stated.

"I...I...am a Ranger."

"You are mine, What you call yourself doesn't matter." The Erlking again stated bluntly "Come to me so you may learn how to serve."

Compelled, Xen took a step towards the king, but then thought of his father and his family and said "I cannot serve in your world, I am needed in this."

"Indeed, you are. For the enemies of the land are many."

Xen's mind was filled with images of orcs burning down forests, goblins butchering all they could find, and could hear the fey spirits moaning in loss as their land was defoiled and ravished.

"We cannot partake directly, it is forbidden, but you are now my Agent!" with that the Erlking lunged placing a hand on Xen's chest, his clothing burning from the heat as the hand pressed inside him it seemed, screaming in agony as knowledge flowed from the Erlking into Xen.
